The EU reached a provisional agreement on revamped rules to reduce, reuse, and recycle packaging, increasing safety and boosting circular economy.
The new measures aim to make packaging used in EU safer and more sustainable, requiring all packaging to be recyclable, minimizing harmful substance, reducing unnecessary packaging, boosting uptake of recycled content and improving collection and recycling.
EU will ban the use of forever chemicals. Will encourage reuse and refill options for consumers. EU will also recycle packaging, better waste collection and recycling.
For the first time in an environmental law, the EU is setting targets to reduce packaging consumption, regardless of material used. It is a great way for health of European consumers. It was also essential that environmental ambitions meet industrial reality. This will foster innovation and include exemptions for micro – enterprises.
