Airport Operator Groupe ADP Invests $20 Million in Sustainable Aviation Fuel Provider LanzaJet
LanzaJet, a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technology company, has received a $20 million investment from airport operator Groupe ADP. The investment aims to support the global deployment of LanzaJet’s SAF process. LanzaJet, a subsidiary of LanzaTech, has developed Alcohol-to-Jet technology that enables the production of SAF and renewable diesel from sustainable ethanol sources, including low-carbon sugarcane, energy crops, agricultural waste, and organic waste.
Earlier this year, LanzaJet inaugurated its first commercial-scale ethanol-to-SAF plant, called LanzaJet Freedom Pines Fuels, in Georgia. The plant has an annual production capacity of 10 million gallons of SAF and renewable diesel and serves as a model for scaling up SAF production. LanzaJet has set a target of reaching 1 billion gallons of SAF production by 2030. The investment from Groupe ADP follows previous investments by Microsoft and Southwest Airlines, among others. Groupe ADP’s investment aligns with its strategy to play a significant role in SAF production and ensure a secure supply for the aviation industry. The company views the transformation of airports into energy hubs with low-carbon solutions as crucial for the development of low-carbon aviation.
