The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert to the public regarding a press release from Tai Sang Bank Limited about phishing emails that have been reported to the HKMA. The HKMA has provided a link to this press release on their website.
The HKMA also reminds the public that legitimate banks will never send SMS or emails with embedded links directing customers to their websites to conduct transactions. Similarly, banks will not ask customers for sensitive information such as login passwords or one-time passwords via phone, email, or SMS, including through embedded links. The HKMA advises anyone who has provided personal information or conducted transactions in response to these phishing emails to contact the bank using the provided contact details and report the matter to the Hong Kong Police Force.
