Phone Calls Alert – Bogus calls related to WeChat Pay Hong Kong Limited

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued an alert to the public regarding a press release from WeChat Pay Hong Kong Limited about bogus phone calls. The HKMA states that the relevant stored value facility (SVF) licensee, which in this case is WeChat Pay Hong Kong Limited, has reported this issue to the HKMA. The HKMA is urging members of the public to take action if they have provided personal information, account credentials, or conducted financial transactions in response to these fraudulent calls. The HKMA advises affected individuals to contact the relevant SVF licensee and also report the incident to the Police or the Anti-Deception Coordination Centre at the phone number 18222.
