Energy Capital Partners Raises $6.7 Billion, Exceeding Fund V Target for Energy Transition Investments
Energy Capital Partners (ECP), a leading investor in energy transition, electrification and decarbonization infrastructure, has announced the successful final closing of its fifth flagship equity strategy, ECP V. The fund raised $4.4 billion in total capital commitments, exceeding its initial $4.0 billion target by 10 percent. Additionally, ECP raised $2.3 billion in co-investment capital, reflecting strong and continued support for the firm’s equity strategy.
ECP V will continue the firm’s cycle-tested investment approach, focusing on transforming attractive and growing companies in power generation, renewable and storage assets, and critical sustainability and decarbonization infrastructure. Recent investments include the $2.6 billion take-private of Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, a diversified renewable and power platform, as well as investments in Biffa, a UK-based waste management business, and Harvestone, a biofuels platform. ECP has been investing in the power sector since its inception in 2005, including the take-private of Calpine Corporation in 2018, one of the largest natural gas and renewable generators in the U.S.
