The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) alerts the public to a press release from Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) Limited about phishing instant messages. The press release is available on the HKMA website. The HKMA reminds the public that banks do not send SMS or emails with hyperlinks directing them to their websites for transactions, nor do they ask for sensitive personal information via phone, email, or SMS. Anyone who has provided personal information or conducted transactions in response to these messages should contact the bank using the information in the press release and report the incident to the Police’s Crime Wing Information Centre.
