The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has issued a warning about Proxinex, suspected of engaging in virtual asset-related fraud. Investors have reported issues withdrawing assets and were subsequently told their accounts did not exist. Proxinex allegedly recruited an agent to lure investors via dating apps, using fabricated documents to enhance credibility. The SFC has listed Proxinex on its Suspicious Virtual Asset Trading Platforms Alert List as of 29 July 2024, and while Proxinex’s website is currently inaccessible, similar fraudulent sites may continue to appear. Investors are urged to stay vigilant against online investment scams, which can lead to significant financial losses.
