Veolia Becomes First Company with Net Zero Goals Validated by Both SBTi and Moody’s
Veolia, a France-based provider of water, wastewater services, and energy, announced that its decarbonization targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and its net zero transition plan has been rated “Advanced” by Moody’s. This makes Veolia the first company to achieve double validation of its climate commitments. Earlier this year, Veolia launched its “GreenUp” strategic program (2024-2027) with ecological goals, including a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2032 and carbon neutrality by 2050. The program also aims to achieve significant Scope 3 emissions avoidance for customers by 2030. The SBTi aligns corporate sustainability actions with global climate goals, and Moody’s Net Zero Assessment evaluates and scores companies’ decarbonization plans. Veolia received an NZ-2 ‘Advanced’ score from Moody’s.
