The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Digital Policy Office (DPO) have announced that the connection between the HKMA’s Commercial Data Interchange (CDI) and the Government’s Consented Data Exchange Gateway (CDEG) is now fully operational. This linkage allows banks to access company data from the Companies Registry through CDI, streamlining processes like account opening and fraud detection. The CDI has already facilitated over 27,000 SME loan applications, amounting to over HK$23.8 billion in approvals. The HKMA and DPO are exploring further data sharing to enhance digital services and support Hong Kong’s digital economy.
