Former Senior Police Constable charged by ICAC for allegedly accepting loans illegally and making false declaration in re-employment application

On August 29, 2024, the ICAC charged former Senior Police Constable Tang Chi-hang with obtaining $16,000 in unauthorized loans and making a false financial declaration during his re-employment application to the Hong Kong Police Force. Tang faces two charges under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance (POBO) for accepting advantages and one for using a deceitful document. The charges involve accepting two $8,000 loans in 2022 without permission and falsely declaring no outstanding financial obligations on a document despite owing about $930,000. Tang was released on bail and will appear in Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on September 2 for plea. The ICAC emphasizes the importance of integrity and adherence to POBO for civil servants.
