On September 4, Chief Inspector Ho Siu-tung and his wife, Mishell Ho Yin-veng, were charged by the ICAC with accepting over $1.14 million in cash and gifts from a merchant in exchange for preferential treatment in official duties. Ho faces multiple charges, including accepting bribes and misconduct in public office for disclosing internal police information. His wife is charged with aiding and abetting his actions. The couple, who were released on bail, will appear in court on September 6. The Hong Kong Police Force has fully cooperated with the ICAC investigation.
