On September 4, 2024, private cello tutor Ho Ka-yeung, 30, was charged with fraud by the ICAC for deceiving a student’s parent into buying a cello at an inflated price. Ho allegedly arranged for the parent to purchase the instrument at a discounted rate from Chairman Instruments but concealed the actual price he paid, pocketing the difference of over $6,000. He faces one count of fraud and is scheduled to appear at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts on September 6.
