Insurance agent charged by ICAC gets 10 months’ jail for swindling commissions over bogus policies

An insurance agent, Lee Hon-yin, was sentenced to 10 months in prison for defrauding China Taiping Life Insurance out of over $650,000 by submitting false insurance policy applications. The court found that he provided misleading information about a client who was unaware of the policies. Lee, who was the business manager, had his fraudulent activities uncovered following an ICAC investigation initiated by a corruption complaint. A co-defendant, Chau Yui-kwan, faces forgery charges, with the case adjourned to November 6.
