Insurance intermediary charged by ICAC gets seven months’ jail for conspiring with policyholders over insurance claims fraud

Lalwani Jay Jerome, an insurance intermediary, was sentenced to seven months in prison for conspiring with two policyholders to fraudulently obtain over $52,000 in accident insurance compensation from AIA International. Between late 2017 and mid-2018, Jerome, along with the policyholders, submitted false claims, pretending the individuals had suffered injuries and received medical treatment that never occurred. The deception was uncovered during an ICAC investigation into corruption. Both policyholders, Tam Kai-chun and Lam In-kwan, were also charged and pleaded guilty.
