Then-Police Constable charged by ICAC for breaching anti-bribery law over acceptance of unauthorised loan from subject in concluded case

A former Police Constable, Mak Kwok-hung, was charged by the ICAC on November 20 for accepting an unauthorized loan of $15,000 from a person previously involved in a theft investigation he handled. Mak, 49, is accused of violating the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance by accepting the loan in 2022 without proper permission from the Chief Executive. The ICAC’s ongoing investigation revealed that the defendant solicited the loan after the case had concluded. Mak was released on bail and is due to appear in court on November 22. The Police have fully cooperated with the investigation.
