Then Police Constable charged by ICAC over Credit Union loan fraud by concealing $500,000 debts

A former Hong Kong Police Constable, Ma Wai-cheong, 47, was charged by the ICAC on November 27 with fraud for allegedly deceiving the Hong Kong Police Credit Union (HKPCU) into granting him a $57,000 loan by concealing over $500,000 in debts from six financial institutions. The ICAC investigation, initiated from a corruption complaint referred by the Police, revealed that Ma falsely claimed on his 2019 loan application that he had no other loans. He faces one count of fraud under the Theft Ordinance and is set to appear in court on November 29. Both the Police and HKPCU cooperated fully with the investigation.
