The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) has confirmed that a former staff member is among three individuals involved in a suspected misconduct in public office case under investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). The case, involving a senior government counsel and a registered nurse, stems from allegations of obtaining and misusing confidential information, which the SFC initially uncovered during an internal probe. The former staff member’s employment was terminated, and the matter was referred to the ICAC. The SFC, committed to upholding integrity, has reviewed its internal policies and reinforced staff awareness of confidentiality obligations and document security. As the investigation continues, the SFC has declined further comment.
