HKMA announces inaugural cohort of GenA.I. Sandbox

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), in partnership with Cyberport, has launched the first cohort of the Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenA.I.) Sandbox, selecting 15 use cases from 10 banks and four tech partners. These use cases, chosen from over 40 proposals, focus on enhancing risk management, anti-fraud measures, and customer experience using GenA.I.’s capabilities in processing large volumes of unstructured data and handling cross-media inputs. The selected participants will begin technical trials in early 2025, with guidance from the HKMA and Cyberport. Insights from this cohort will inform the second cohort’s application process, set to open by the end of Q1 2025.
