HKMA and CBUAE deepen financial market co-operation between Hong Kong and UAE

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates (CBUAE) held their second bilateral meeting in Hong Kong, reinforcing financial collaboration between the two jurisdictions. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed to establish connectivity between their debt capital markets and financial infrastructures, enabling seamless cross-border debt securities issuance and investment activities. Discussions also covered financial infrastructure development and investment opportunities in the MENA region and Mainland China. Both parties emphasized the potential for mutual growth, with the agreement strengthening Hong Kong’s role as a gateway to international and Renminbi markets and positioning the UAE as a bridge between MENA and Asian markets.
