Chan Wing-ko, a former Senior Immigration Assistant with Hong Kong’s Immigration Department, pleaded guilty to four counts of using falsified application forms to secure salary advances totaling over $130,000 between 2009 and 2020. The false statements concealed his outstanding debts with financial institutions, which ranged from $280,000 to $360,000. Charged by the ICAC under the Prevention of Bribery Ordinance, Chan’s case has been adjourned to 23 January for sentencing, with a background report pending. The Immigration Department and Treasury fully assisted the ICAC investigation. Chan has been remanded in custody.
