On June 9, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) hosted a successful broker forum titled “Powering Growth with Resilience,” attracting around 700 senior representatives from the securities sector. This turnout significantly exceeded that of the inaugural event held the previous October. The forum focused on key topics, including updates on the IPO market and innovations in exchange-traded and tokenized products. The SFC introduced enhanced account-opening procedures and stressed the importance of improving cybersecurity and internal controls to prevent unauthorized trading. Dr. Eric Yip, the SFC’s Executive Director of Intermediaries, highlighted the importance of regulator-industry engagement, while Hon Robert Lee, the Legislative Councillor, acknowledged the forum’s role in bridging the gap between the industry and the regulator. The SFC remains committed to fostering collaboration to ensure Hong Kong’s markets remain resilient and competitive.
