HKEX releases 2024 Interim Results

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited has released its 2024 Interim Results. In the first half of 2024, HKEX showcased resilience amid a cautiously optimistic global economic outlook marked by ongoing uncertainties. Despite a 4% decline in Hong Kong’s average daily securities turnover, trading volumes rose notably from March onward, and the derivatives market saw a 12% increase. Stock Connect and Bond Connect trading achieved record high turnovers, and the IPO market showed signs of recovery with a 69% increase in new applications. The LME’s metals trading also grew significantly by 29% due to improved market conditions and liquidity efforts. Overall, HKEX’s revenue remained stable at $10,621 million, though profit attributable to shareholders fell by 3% to $6,125 million, accompanied by an interim dividend of $4.36 per share.
