Chan Kwai-san, a 44-year-old installation worker at Jarvan E&M Engineering Limited (JEM), was sentenced to seven months in jail for accepting approximately $22,000 in bribes from three fellow workers to secure their employment. Charged by the ICAC, he pleaded guilty to multiple counts of bribery, acknowledging that he solicited $100 per day from each worker he referred to JEM. The magistrate highlighted the seriousness of the offense, which undermined fair employment practices. In addition to the prison sentence, Chan was ordered to repay $21,800 to JEM. The ICAC reiterated the severity of employment-related bribery and encouraged workers to report such corruption.
