The ICAC has charged four members of the same family—Ng Tung, Wong Yuet-ho, and their children Ng Yee-ki and Ng Ka-hung—for alleged vote-rigging during the 2023 Rural Ordinary Election for Ha Pak Nai Tsuen in Yuen Long. The defendants, aged 35 to 71, are accused of voting despite knowing they were ineligible, while Ng Tung and Ng Ka-hung are further charged with making false statements about their residence to an electoral registration officer. The investigation revealed that the family had been living in Tai Po since 2007, failing to meet the “three-year requirement” for eligibility to vote in the village election. The defendants, released on ICAC bail, will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on January 15. The ICAC emphasized the importance of ensuring voter eligibility to prevent corrupt conduct and safeguard fair elections.
