Certified public accountant charged by ICAC gets five years’ jail for stealing USD1.25m

Cheung Hing-chik, a certified public accountant, was sentenced to five years in prison after being convicted of stealing over USD 1.25 million from two companies while serving as a trustee. The ICAC investigation revealed that Cheung, acting as the sole authorized signatory for the companies’ bank accounts, transferred funds to his personal accounts without consent and concealed his actions by providing false information to the clients. The court emphasized the serious breach of trust and the defendant’s abuse of his fiduciary duties.
