SFC convenes inaugural Virtual Asset Consultative Panel meeting

On February 14, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) held the inaugural meeting of the Virtual Asset Consultative Panel (VACP), aimed at supporting licensed virtual asset trading platforms (VATPs). Chaired by Dr. Eric Yip, the SFC’s Executive Director of Intermediaries, the panel includes senior management from all licensed VATPs and will contribute to the development of regulatory policies that promote a sustainable virtual asset ecosystem. Dr. Yip emphasized the importance of the VACP in fostering collaboration to prioritize market and regulatory advancements while ensuring investor protections amidst rapid industry changes.
