SFC convenes second Digital Asset Consultative Panel meeting
On July 7, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) held the second meeting of the Digital Asset Consultative Panel (DACP) with licensed virtual asset trading platforms (VATPs). The meeting focused on various market and regulatory developments in Hong Kong’s digital asset sector, particularly initiatives under Pillars A (Access) and P (Products) of the SFC’s ASPIRe roadmap. Discussions included proposals for new regulatory frameworks for virtual asset dealing and custodial services, as well as enhancing market accessibility and product offerings. Dr. Eric Yip, the SFC’s Executive Director of Intermediaries and chair of the DACP, emphasized the importance of collaboration with VATPs in fostering a sustainable digital asset ecosystem while ensuring robust investor protection. The SFC plans to continue engaging with VATPs as part of its commitment to developing the digital asset landscape in Hong Kong.
