Circular on enhanced facilitative measure for visiting professionals

On July 15, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) issued a circular announcing enhanced measures to facilitate visiting professionals conducting regulated activities or providing virtual asset services (VA services) in Hong Kong. Professionals from overseas groups associated with licensed corporations can apply for a representative licence to operate as itinerant professionals (ITPs) for up to 45 days each calendar year, increased from the previous limit of 30 days. ITPs must be accompanied by a licensed person unless serving only professional investors. While the application process and other requirements remain unchanged, existing licensed ITPs will have their conditions updated to reflect the new 45-day limit.
