Insurance Authority launches the AI Cohort Programme

On August 18, 2025, the Insurance Authority (IA) launched the AI Cohort Programme, bringing together leaders from the insurance sector and technology service providers to foster AI adoption in the industry. Mr. Stephen Yiu, Chairman of the IA, emphasized the transformative impact of AI on various aspects of insurance, including underwriting, claims settlement, and customer service. The programme aims to encourage collaboration and establish Hong Kong as a regional AI hub, supported by robust digital infrastructure and favorable government policies. At the launch event held at Cyberport, seven insurers committed to becoming core participants, focusing on creating centers of excellence, nurturing talent, and sharing insights.
