SFC and ADGM’s FSRA co-host high-level roundtable on asset management opportunities
On September 11, 2025, the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) co-hosted a high-level roundtable in Hong Kong to explore asset management opportunities for Hong Kong firms within the ADGM framework. The event featured over 20 senior executives from Hong Kong asset management firms and was led by SFC CEO Julia Leung and ADGM FSRA CEO Emmanuel Givanakis. Discussions focused on how Hong Kong asset managers can access investors in ADGM and the broader UAE through the UAE fund passporting regime. Leung highlighted the importance of this dialogue in building connectivity and enhancing collaboration between the regions, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier in May 2025. Givanakis expressed ADGM’s commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening investor confidence in the asset management sector. Following the roundtable, an industry seminar provided insights into the regulatory requirements for cross-border fund distributions, attended by over 30 industry representatives. This event reinforced the strategic partnership between Hong Kong and ADGM as they work to enhance the competitiveness of their financial ecosystems.
