The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) successfully concluded an international financial conference on October 31, focusing on “Opportunities and Challenges of Emerging Technologies in the Financial Ecosystem.” Building on last year’s inaugural event, this conference gathered over 100 representatives from various sectors, including central banks and technology firms. Keynote speaker Ms. Sarah Breeden, Deputy Governor of the Bank of England, along with other experts, discussed the transformative impact of technologies like AI and tokenization. HKMA Chief Executive Eddie Yue emphasized the need for collaboration to address the challenges posed by these advancements, while BIS Chief Representative Tao Zhang highlighted the importance of working with stakeholders to maximize benefits and tackle related issues.
