Ng Wai, the former deputy general manager of Beijing Capital Land Limited (BCL), and his mother, Han Shang-min, were charged by the ICAC on November 4 for conspiring with an Australian businessman to accept an investment opportunity in exchange for favoring his companies in BCL’s overseas property investments. Between 2014 and 2021, Ng recommended several Australian property projects, and he and Han allegedly received a financial advantage, with Ng making a profit of around AUS$2.9 million from the deal. Both were released on bail and are set to appear in court on November 6.
