On June 8, 2023, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced that it has granted a banking license to China CITIC Bank Corporation Limited, a corporation based in the People’s Republic of China, under the Banking Ordinance. As a result, the total number of licensed banks in Hong Kong has now increased to 153.
