The ICAC has investigated corruption allegations involving two imported team leaders from a subcontractor of the Three-Runway System Project at Hong Kong International Airport. The team leaders allegedly collected over HK$6 million in bribes from 58 imported workers between November 2023 and June 2024 to secure their employment. The duo faces bribery charges, while the operator and a manager of the subcontractor are still wanted by the ICAC. The workers, misled about their salaries, were coerced into paying the bribes. The ICAC has called for greater awareness of anti-corruption laws among imported workers and will continue working with relevant authorities to prevent similar crimes.
