Opening Remarks at MO•MENTS 2025 organised by Ant International on Global Outlook: Unlocking Market Potential through Financial Connectivity
In his opening remarks at MO•MENTS 2025, Deputy Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Darryl Chan, welcomed attendees and emphasized the importance of global connectivity in the payments sector. He highlighted Hong Kong’s initiatives to enhance payment services, such as the robust ecosystem of stored value facilities (SVFs) and the Faster Payment System (FPS), which have significantly improved transaction efficiency and user experience. Chan discussed the HKMA’s efforts in central bank digital currency (CBDC) projects like mBridge and the establishment of a stablecoin regulatory framework, aimed at fostering a sustainable crypto ecosystem. He urged the industry to leverage technology for innovation while addressing challenges like fraud. Emphasizing collaboration and operational resilience, Chan concluded that a customer-centric approach would be key to unlocking market potential and creating an inclusive financial landscape.
